Children to Children Fact
Sheet
Makenzie
began Children to
Children in 1998
Her
brother, Brock named her
project Children to
Children and helps her
manage her organization.
Makenzie
began her organization
after hearing desperate
cries from foster-care
children living
transient lives. These
children are taken from
their homes scared with
fear not knowing what is
going to become of them
and they cry many sad
tears. She felt she
needed to help them so
she began Children to
Children. Many of these
children are given only
a trash bag to live out
of when moving from home
to home. This is very
degrading to them. So,
Makenzie gives them some
dignity by providing
them with a duffel bag
to keep their belongings
in and a stuffed animal
to cuddle and to love.
She also gives them a
letter telling each one
of them that she loves
and cares about them and
to never give up hope.
Collects
and distributes duffel
bags and stuffed animals
to children living in
foster care throughout
the United States

foster-care children
living in the United
States with a duffel bag
and stuffed animal
Featured
in Chicken Soup for the
Pre-teen Soul and
Chicken Soup “Living
Your Dreams” books. She
receives help everyday
from kids across the
country who read about
her then pitch in to
help
She
inspires and involves
kids and adults in the
United States and abroad
Makenzie’s
program is set up in a
way that anyone can help
Caring
individuals can help by:
Sending duffel bags,
stuffed animals or money
directly to Makenzie
or
they can set up their
own drive and collect
equal amounts of both
then write to Children
to Children with amount
collected then she mails
them the amount of
luggage tags they need.
They then download her
note off of her website
to put in each bag and
contact their nearest
social service office by
looking in their phone
book to arrange for
delivery.
Kids
and adults across the
country love setting up
their own drives because
they are in control with
everything from
marketing with their own
posters and incentives,
setting their goals for
amount they want to
achieve while feeling
good about making a
difference in their own
town.
Makenzie
makes guest appearances
to groups and on
television to inspire
Americans to get
involved
Makenzie
set her program up this
way because a lot of
kids wanted to help but
had no money to pay for
shipping costs to send
the things to her. The
kids love her program
and are always excited
to help.
Adults
and kids throughout the
country write to
Makenzie with praise and
admiration. Most kids
tell her she is their
idol, hero, and angel.

Makenzie
wants anyone who cares
about the future of
these children to become
involved and help. She
may only be 16 years
-old but she is making a
difference in this
country one child at a
time. She welcomes
support from all caring
individuals including
leaders of this country
and famous stars. She
feels if everyone
pitches in this country
will be a better place
to live and these
foster-care children
will grow up with hope
for a better future.
